School history
The 1st September 1965 was a very important day for all pupils from the town part Kňažia and from the neighbouring villages. We had a big ceremony while we were opening a new school with 14 classroms at the begining of the new school year 1965/66. In the first year in our school we had 20 classes, 632 pupils and 30 teachers.
The first school headmaster was Mr. Ernest Stehura and he was in this possition up to 1983. After him there were other headmasters as : Mrs. Anna Kudlová, Mrs. Albína Pániková, Mr. Ľubomír Vrábel, Mrs. Viera Holmová and since 2000 up to the present Mrs. Daša Badáňová has been our headmaster.
In May 2003 a kindergarten became a part of our school. Before, from 1966 the kindergarten was an independent object and in a separate building. Now the kindergarten is a part of our school situated in the ground floor of the main school building.
Kindergarten
has got 2 classes with 42 children. Four qualified teachers take care of their education according to the school programme. It is aimed on regional education and foreign language educatio by games. In the kindergarten children have a lot of activities (carneval, building snowmen, Children´s day, Preschool night, theatre) about which a wide community and parents are informed via our school web-page.
Elementary school (pupils from 6-15)
In our school we have 10 classes with 200 pupils. Their education service is carried out by 15 teachers.
The direction in our school has been changed several times. In the past there were sport football classes and nowadays we have a School educational program SÚZVUK (in English Harmony), which is aimed on :
- communication in mother tongue and foreign languages
- development of IT Technologies
- ecology (enviromentalism)
- development of math and logical thinking
We have a lower number of pupils in classes what is very effective for the educational process. Except for common classes pupils can use 2 computer classes, a science class, an art class, cooking, a regional class, gym, fitness and a new communication and information centre.
Another part of our school program is a swimming and skiing course, traffic education on the child traffic playground, attending concerts, theatre performances, art exhibitions and Open Door Days.
Our school has been in these projects for a long time :
Healthy school – the main aim is the education of healthy life style, development of motoric activities, protection and support of health.
Green school - it is the education toward protection of our enviroment and our enviromental behaviour
Orange – new trends of education, experience education is supported
European spring - activities that join young people in Europe
Lego Dacta – activities and competitions with lego, development of creative thinking
Infoage – the aim was to arrange equipment of school with PCs and internet connection
MSITA – our school is a training centre of Microsoft IT Academy using MS office in the educational process
School children club
has got 2 departments that are attended by 45 pupils from 1st to 4th grades. There are two teachers who take care of them. Here children get ready for their next lessons, they learn social behaviour rules, here play games and do various art and sport activities.
School centre of leisure activities
Here are 14 leisure time activities in which children can develop their potential – for example : sports, arts, musics, drama and craft activities.
Except for these there are traditional activities and creative workshops prepared at Christmas time, Easter time, Carneval, Halloween, Valentine disco, Mother´s day, Juniáles.
What has become very famous is the Day for our town – an ecological activity aimed on cleaning of our school surroundings, town parts and neighbouring villages.
